Today we talk with the multi-skilled musician and Ukulele man Niq Reefman. Niq is a mudputty host who teaches Advanced Ukulele techniques and tricks. Percussion, strumming patterns and jazz chords...
Why are you passionate about your class, and where did your passion stem from?
Ukulele is capable of many things that most people aren't aware of. It's not too difficult to pick up some new ideas to freshen up your skills and sound. I'm always keen to teach interesting tricks to vary the sounds we make musically.
Why should people attend your class?
I like to teach myself out of a job. People who attend my classes will walk away, not only being inspired but will have a whole bunch of ideas and techniques to hone and experiment with at home. They may ENJOY to come back but they will have the tools to teach themselves for a while.
What makes your class extra special?
My style of teaching is interactive and a little theatrical. I usually share some stories and play original compositions to illustrate a point. The idea is to have fun because that makes it easier to assimilate.
What experience do you create for your attendees?
My students usually hang around for a chat after the class. I have resources for everyone and inspiring ukulele links to check out. I also sell CDs and perform for house concerts. Of course, those are just bonuses and the class is mostly about picking up interesting ideas to create great music... We all just love music really!
What are you looking forward to the most when it comes to hosting?
