About our classes:

You will be in foodie heaven when you join Debra Maloney (endorsed author, speaker, cooking demonstrator, recipe developer, food safety supervisor, gluten free food service provider, and consultant) and her amazing assistants Barb and Karen at The Temple Door Cooking School, nestled in the treetops at stunning Terranora, with breath-taking views over the Tweed Valley to Mount Warning “the sleeping giant”.

Enjoy the serenity in a peaceful, Bali style atmosphere just 12 minutes South from Gold Coast Airport.

All our classes are 100% hands on where students have their own preparation area, oven, hotplates, utensils, equipment, apron and ingredients for the duration of the class.

We will inspire you to create dish after dish of cuisines from all around the world, including our very own Bush Tucker, using locally sourced organic ingredients.

Great cooking is not just about the recipes, it’s about technique! we will guide you step by step for 4 hours from how to plan and prepare each dish through to cooking and plating up with food styling tricks and tip.

Where did your passion come from?

Having been a foodie all my life, I was suddenly diagnosed with Coeliac Disease 20 years ago and suddenly my world turned upside down, back then we did not have the gluten free options we have today. The thought of living with a dull restrictive diet for the rest of my life motivated me to develop my own recipes which lead me to writing a cookbook “My Gluten-Free Gourmet Kitchen” endorsed by Coeliac Australia.

My aim was to prove that gluten free food can be just as delicious and mouth-watering as non-gluten free “which I achieved”, even non-coeliacs are purchasing my book and love it.

From then I started going on stage for Coeliac Australia giving talks and cooking demonstrations, which then lead to converting my cook book to other dietary needs.

In November 2017 I opened my first fully equipped commercial cooking school from home and have recently been holding regular classes for people with special needs which I absolutely love! We cater for all levels of experience and dietary needs.

What makes your cooking classes different from other cooking schools?

Being 100% hands on classes ensures our students prepare, cook and plate up from scratch with our support staff and they leave with the knowledge and know how to make them a culinary star in their own kitchen. All students sit down with a glass of wine or beer and enjoy their creations in an outside dining area while tacking in the breath-taking views of the Tweed Valley. Our students receive a certificate on completion of their class, recipe booklet from the days class, bonus recipes, photos and treats, all inclusive.

Students leave with gained confidence in their own cooking skills and memories of a great day out filled with fun and laughter.
